“Maneuvering life towards your dream destination.”

Every time I go for interviews, they would always ask me, “You graduated from an aeronautic school, why don’t you pursue an airline related jobs?”

Looking at my resume you would be amazed on how bizarre things are; how my educational background and previous jobs doesn’t correlate with each other. So to give you a brief preview of how I come up with such decisions, let me tell you my story.

As children, we often have that dream job that we want to achieve when we grow up; Many of us once dreamt of becoming a doctor, an engineer, a nurse, a policeman, a teacher and even a pilot, when we were younger. I myself, is no exception to that. In fact, as I grow old, my dream job changed constantly; from wanting to be a doctor at first, to becoming a priest, and later on to become a pilot.

That’s one reason why I opted for my alma mater, PATTS College of Aeronautics.Being one of the top-tier Aeronautical Institution in the Philippines, PATTS offer unique courses that allow its students to explore various fields after graduation. It may seem vague to others, but it actually makes sense for it expands the students’ career horizon.

My degree, for example, BS Airline Business Administration — Major in Marketing and Airfreight Operations. It may sound confusing, but it’s just a business course with airline subjects added into it, which gives us (ABA Graduates) the flexibility to work on various industries such Airlines, Logistics, Finance and General Businesses.

Although it can be a struggle as well, especially if the job you aim for requires a more specific degree.

As I mature and became more aware of assessing my strengths and capabilities, I started to have a clear vision of who I want to be now and in the future. It may have taken me several years to finally figure it out, but now I know, Marketing is really my calling. However, employers often have this set back because of the unfitting course I have taken, but instead of being discouraged, I take that as a challenge.

As an inborn artist (yes! Ha-ha yet to be proven that’s why I’m writing this and several screenplays), I’ve always had a cinematic imagination; film like concepts and sceneries that run through my head waiting to be written down and worked with. Coming up with taglines, layouts, and playing with different brand elements just give me a sense of fulfillment and heightens my desire to create.

And we know that effective marketing campaigns and strategies requires peculiar ideas that will give customers a captivating experience. An experience that will keep them hooked to the product/brand; a seamless storytelling that will keep them coming back for more.

Looking back, if I knew back then that this is the career path I’ll be choosing, I would have made a different decision. But it’s too late for that now, and despite all that I’ve gone through, I am happy and thankful for the experience and to all the people who took part in that journey.

I may have not become a pilot, but it doesn’t mean I can’t reach greater heights. Maybe I’m just destined to maneuver a different craft (not an aircraft☺️), something that can make a difference.

Thank you so much for spending a few minutes reading this article. Now you’ve reached this part, it means that I am able to make a connection with you and I’ve been successful marketing myself.
